When designing user interfaces, is it good to design to minimize clicks to outcome?

Definitely NO. In many situations more clicks might be necessary to complete a task. But that's okay, as long as the user feels they're on the right way, nearing completion, and confident about the task at hand.

Of course, it would be ideal if any process could be handled with choosing (at most) 3 times between 3 or 4 items or options, but then the scope total would not be able to consist any more than 12 possible outcomes. I'm afraid that's not realistic for most scenarios...
