Original question: Are pro web designers still using Photoshop, or have they switched to something else?

This question needs to be split up into two questions:
1. Are pro web designers still using Photoshop, for photos ?
2. Are pro web designers still using Photoshop, for layout ?

The answers would be:

1. Maybe, probably, depending on the level of creativity they're putting into it, requiring certain typical Photoshop techniques to be applied. But simple crop and polishing can be done in any decent photo editing tool (a desktop application or even mobile app).
2. I hope not !! Though Photoshop offers reasonable ways to create multiple artboards, layout grids, image and text frames, constructing web or app mockups with it still feels odd. And it's impossible to set up and review prototypes with transitions, animations, etcetera.

Adobe management eventually noticed that web and app designers were moving away from Illustrator and Photoshop to Sketch and similar tools (and related services), so they simply decided to mimic Sketch with Adobe XD, and even go beyond...
