Thanks for asking, but as Jason Weiesnbach already described: there are many ways to achieve it. And like he also adds, there are even a few more methods:

• use Create Pattern with any preferred staggering grid,
• use two Transform Effects (horizontally and vertically)
• use a symbol when distributing anything manually
  (easier to edit the main element afterwards)
