Why did Adobe replace Acrobat Pro with Acrobat DC?

Just like all Adobe CC applications, it was only a matter of time to let Acrobat join the subscription model, and start offering cloud-based features and SaaSsolutions. Was it a good thing ? Well, why not. I can't say I'm heavily confused, disappointed or disturbed by these changes.

The interface however is another matter. Almost every key version of Acrobatsported a totally different interface. Check these out, versions 8, 9, 10/11 (X and XI) and DC, e.g. how to work with forms:

Okay, granted: the large colourful buttons in DC are a boon to anyone working with a touch screen. But they do appear a bit childish. And I'm always struggling with these bars and panels flipping and collapsing. But when you eventually uncover a feature, the same old dialogue whips up...

So all in all, DC is not that bad, but not an improvement. And on the aspect of the interface, I'm still a fan of the older versions, specifically version 8. (I'm still a sucker for plain menus with commands...)
